The 2017 SFAA Conference was a great experience. Since it was my first year, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Well, I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. I found myself surrounded by likeminded individuals looking to increase their level of knowledge on how to help the professional athlete. The presenters were topical and qualified. As an advisor it was good to hear from other non-financial advisor professionals about their experiences and challenges working with the professional athlete. I made quite a few networking connections that will definitely help both my existing athlete client base and any new ones. I am looking forward to next year’s conference for sure!

It was an honor to have been selected to speak at the SFAA conference in 2016 and 2017 on the link between psychology and financial advising of athletes. This conference is diverse as it has professionals in business, financial advising, law, and representation from professional athletics. I was impressed at the support and desire of the audience wanting to know more about the link between psychology and financial advising. I endorse this conference for people who are in the financial advising industry.

As a parent of a Professional Football Coach, I can agree that without question athletes at all levels, professional, college, and high school are in dire need of the educational opportunities that the SFAA can provide. The SFAA model focuses on those skills essential to allow athletes to navigate the many financial challenges daily life presents away from the playing field.
Many of the speakers provided crucial information essential to understanding how the business and financial world of professional athletes functions and the many challenges they face when they are suddenly thrust into a world where for the first time money appears to be no object. Sadly, however those years of immense wealth are fleeting for most athletes such that it is essential they understand how they can protect themselves and their families in the future when their playing days are over.
I believe SFAA is on the cutting edge of a program that can provide education and training to athletes of all ages and that the earlier those athletes are provided that education the more likely they will succeed in business and in life when their playing days are over. Congratulations to you and your team for an outstanding program and a job well done!
I had little-to-no expectations when I decided to travel from Fort Lauderdale to Phoenix to attend and speak at the Sports Financial Advisors Association annual meeting. I was thrilled to discover quality individuals and discussions at the event and believe I have made strong connections to work with in the future that I would not have otherwise forged. The casual, comfortable event is one that I would recommend not only to financial advisors, but many other professionals in the world of sport.
